     Charles Edwin Simpson Sr., 72, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at his residence in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was born on March 4, 1939 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Alec and Ruby (Bratcher) Simpson.

     Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel of Blackwell with Rev. Steve Mallory officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home of Blackwell.

     He grew up and attended school in Morrilton, Arkansas and enjoyed playing baseball as a young boy. As a teenager he discovered an interest in automotive mechanics. He was a Chevy man! He loved the 1960’s pickups. In 1947 he moved to California. He began taking classes in 1970’s and eared his certification for foreign cars, Mercedes, and fiats. For his career in life he worked on American and foreign cars. He married Wilma Clark from 1957 to 1972 and from this marriage four children were born. He then married Joann Haywood in 1983 and they celebrated 29 years together.

     Charles was an all around good natured person. He loved the outdoors. His children remember camping, boating, and water skiing was an activity we all loved. His positive attitude and humor will be missed.

     He is survived by his wife, Joann Simpson, of the home; two sons, Chuck Simpson Jr., of Sacramento, California, Brad Simpson, and his wife, Kathy, of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mary Henricksen, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Patricia Corn, of Blackwell, Oklahoma; three step children, Brian and Chris Port, Becky Loy; two brothers, Frank Simpson, and his wife, Maxine, of Madera, California, Roy Simpson, of Los Angeles, California; eight grand children, Michelle, Brock, and Dana Henricksen, Tabitha and Matthew Simpson, Alva Olmstead, Shauna Foster, Ron Sipe Jr.

     He is preceded in death by his parents, Alec and Ruby (Bratcher) Simpson.

     Memorials may be made in Charles’ memory to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 North Union, Suite 103, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
